Meet the San Diego Team Behind Laurel Attic Insulation San Diego
We’re a San Diego crew, born and raised around coastal marine layers and inland heat waves. What unites us is pretty simple: we’ve all crawled through enough hot attics to know what a difference proper insulation makes. Every tech on our team is background-checked, uniformed, and trained on the Relay Standard, which means you get a live arrival time, before-and-after photos, and a written price before anything starts. No vague windows, no mystery charges. Just people who show up, do the work, and stand behind it for 365 days.
Our People
Chase Whitaker, Owner
Chase founded Laurel Attic Insulation San Diego with a straightforward belief: insulation should be specified, priced, and installed without guesswork. He started in attics in 2003 and has built the business around written guarantees, honest material selection from brands like Owens Corning, Rockwool, and Icynene, and a firm no-surprises policy. He still walks job sites regularly and answers calls from customers who have questions after the work is done. On weekends, you’ll find him surf fishing at Torrey Pines or working on an old Chevy truck that never quite starts on the first try.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has 11 years in residential insulation, with a specialty in dense-pack cellulose and Knauf batt systems. He holds a BPI Building Analyst certification and handles most of our spray foam installations, particularly closed-cell Icynene jobs in tight attic cavities where R-value matters most. Marcus is the guy who can look at a San Diego attic in July, read the existing insulation depth, and tell you within five minutes what’s causing your upstairs bedroom to bake. He’s also our go-to for tricky removal jobs where old, compressed insulation has settled to an R-value well below what it was rated for.
Sofia R., Service Coordinator
Sofia has been with Laurel since 2019 and runs scheduling, material ordering, and the live arrival tracking that every customer gets. She knows the material lead times for all eight brands we work with, which means your CertainTeed or Johns Manville order gets confirmed before a date is promised. Before that, she worked dispatch for a HVAC company in San Diego and learned exactly how much people dislike four-hour appointment windows. Sofia keeps a running list of the best taco spots within 10 minutes of every job site and will absolutely share recommendations if you ask.
Danny K., Senior Installer
Danny has been installing insulation in San Diego County for 14 years and is our air-sealing specialist, handling everything from can-light covers to top plates before the insulation goes in. He’s OSHA 10 certified and handles the physical side of removal jobs: bagging old fiberglass, hauling it out, and prepping the space for whatever goes back in. Danny once worked a job in Rancho Santa Fe where the previous contractor had left an attic half-insulated for three years, with one side of the house running 8 degrees warmer than the other. He fixed it in one day and still brings it up when people ask whether partial insulation is “good enough.” It’s not.
One Standard, Every Job
Every member of this San Diego team operates under the same non-negotiables, whether it’s a simple batt replacement in Normal Heights or a full spray foam conversion in Point Loma. You get a written price before work begins, every time. You get a written guarantee on every job, covering workmanship for 365 days. If something isn’t right, we send someone back at no charge, no argument. Materials come from eight leading manufacturers and are matched to the job, not to whatever’s on the truck. That’s how Laurel stays green all year, and how your home’s comfort should too. That’s the idea behind the name.
